Renegade Rodeo Tour

The Renegade Rodeo Tour was birthed out of frustration during the pandemic of 2020, needing to not let a legacy/historic event be canceled due to unconstitutional mandates passed down by the NM Governor, C.J. Baca pulled all the stops and went on ahead with the iconic longest-running rodeo series in the nation: the 42nd edition of the Baca Rodeo Series.

This, in turn, garnered national attention as USA TODAY dubbed them the “Renegade Rodeo!” In true fashion, Baca flipped the script and used that new-found fame to create the Renegade Rodeo Tour. Undeterred, he made it his mission to create a first-class rodeo tour (under the new given name) to show that, against all odds, something good can come from a bad situation.

In its first year, the tour boasted nearly 500 contestant members, 8 rodeos all across the state,  including a big finale where it all started. Wanting to “blow ’em out of the water,” Baca gave away a fully-wrapped rodeo van (with rodeo graphics) to the top contestant of the tour. The tour has since become an annual phenomenon; it is like a vacuum, pulling in the biggest rodeos in the state of New Mexico.
